Booking a Houston Magician

Looking for a magician doesn’t have to be difficult. Is your event for kids or adults? Is it an outdoor party or indoor event? How many people will be there? What is the theme? The answers to those questions can help us narrow down your choices to the best performer for your event.

Magic shows can be booked several different ways. Let me explain how that works:

  • Strolling- the performer walks around to tables or open area and does spontaneous mini-shows as an ice-breaker. Usually one hour of strolling per 60 people is a good rule of thumb.
  • Parlor- an old name for a show that takes place in a small to medium sized room. This would be like a home party or small gathering.
  • Stage- there doesn’t necessarily have to be a stage for “stage magic” but the show is bigger and has sound equipment. A comedy club, a large banquet or an auditorium is stage magic
  • Hypnosis- comedy hypnosis is a style of mental magic. There are several branches of magic- escape artist, mentalist, quick change, etc, but hypnosis is probably the best known. This type of show requires about 90 minutes from warm up to ending and needs to have a large enough audience for the hypnotist to pick assistants to help on stage.
  • Illusions- Technically all magic is an “illusion”, but the term usually applies to a show that employs larger props and effects. An assistant is usually part of the show as well as lighting and sound techs.
